Difference Between HEETS™ and TEREA™ Tobacco Sticks

HEETS and TEREA are both heated tobacco sticks made for IQOS devices. They heat tobacco instead of burning it. The main difference between HEETS and TEREA is how they are heated, which also decides which device you need. You cannot swap one for the other.

How HEETS Work
When you push a HEETS stick into a blade device, a heating blade goes into the tobacco and heats it from the inside. Over time, tobacco bits stick to the blade, so you need to clean the device regularly.
How TEREA Works
Each TEREA stick has a thin metal part inside the tobacco. The ILUMA device has no blade. It uses induction to heat that metal part, which heats the tobacco from within. Can I Use HEETS in IQOS ILUMA?
No. ILUMA only heats sticks with the metal part inside, so HEETS will not work. TEREA also must not be used in blade devices like the IQOS 3 DUO. The metal part can damage the blade.
Flavours
Many TEREA flavours carry the same names as HEETS, such as Amber, Sienna, Silver, Turquoise and Yellow, so switching is easy. TEREA also has many newer flavours, especially in the Indonesian and Japanese editions. See our TEREA flavour guide.
Which Should You Choose?
- You have an IQOS 3 DUO, 3 Multi or Originals device: use HEETS.
- You have an ILUMA or LAMBDA induction device: use TEREA.
- You are buying a new device: IQOS ILUMA uses TEREA, which has the widest flavour choice on our site. The ILUMA i One starts at AED 149.

Are HEETS the same as TEREA?
No. They are built differently and work in different devices.
Is ILUMA better than older IQOS devices?
ILUMA is easier to look after because it has no blade to clean, and TEREA has more flavours. Nicotine and health risks are similar for both, so the choice mostly comes down to convenience and flavour.
