HEETS and TEREA sticks taste best when they are fresh. The shelf life of a pack depends mostly on storage: heat, sun and dry air can make the tobacco stale. This is a real issue in the UAE, where summer heat is strong. Here is how to store your sticks and how to tell when they are past their best.
How long do HEETS and TEREA last?
There is no single fixed shelf life you can rely on. A sealed carton, kept cool and out of the sun, keeps its taste for a long time. Once you open a pack, it is best to finish it within a few days to a couple of weeks. Check the pack for any date printed by the maker.
Our cartons are factory sealed. We do not open or repack them.
Best way to store your sticks
- Keep cartons and packs in a cool, dry place indoors, away from direct sun.
- Do not leave packs in a parked car. Car interiors in the UAE get very hot.
- Keep packs closed when not in use. Close the lid after each stick.
- Open one pack at a time rather than several.
- Keep them away from strong smells, such as perfume or food, which tobacco can absorb.
- Do not store them in the fridge or freezer. Moisture can form when you take them out.
Signs a stick has gone stale
- The tobacco end looks very dry or crumbles.
- The taste is flat, harsh or burnt.
- There is a musty or odd smell.
- You see any spots, mould or colour change. Throw these sticks away.
Do not wet or steam your sticks
Some websites suggest spraying dry sticks with water or steaming them. Do not do this. Wet sticks can damage your device, heat badly and taste worse. A stale pack cannot be restored. The best fix is good storage from the start.

Can I use the same HEETS stick twice?
No. Each stick is made for one use only. A used stick will taste poor and can leave more residue in your device.
Do cartons from your store arrive fresh?
We sell factory sealed cartons and do not open or repack them. If a carton arrives damaged or with a packing mistake, report it within 2 days. See our refund policy.
How long does an IQOS device last?
An IQOS device lasts as long as you look after it. It depends on how often you use it and how well you look after it. Regular cleaning, using only the right sticks and avoiding heat and water all help the battery and heater last longer.
